Gigabyte P55/X58 Budget USB 3.0 Motherboard Roundup Posted by : Nohr on Saturday, April 17, 2010 - 11:00 PM

"If you don't want to wait until late 2011 to experience USB 3.0 today with the Intel platform, you'll have to spring for one of the new X58 or P55 motherboards with NEC's USB 3.0 controller built-in. Fortunately Gigabyte offers a wide range of boards with this feature, and even 6Gb/sec SATA also. In today's article we take a look at Gigabyte's budget offerings for both chipsets. With prices starting as low as $120 on the P55 and $210 for X58, Gigabyte's boards are quite affordable. But are compromises made in the process? See how these boards fare in today's review!"

10 Low-Budget AMD Motherboards Posted by : Nohr on Monday, October 05, 2009 - 08:45 PM
| |
"Since AMD presented some very interesting low-budget CPUs lately, next good question is: which motherboard should you purchase with that CPU? We decided to review all AM2/AM2+ motherboards with price tag between 50€ and 70€ because we believe that some of those motherboards can be very good choice especially for new Athlon II CPUs. Except price, there was another feature that all motherboards should have: support for DDR2 memory. Since we are choosing motherboard for a budget PC and DDR2 memory is cheaper and offers similar performances to DDR3, it was logical choice. So, let’s get cracking."

"Almost two weeks after the official release of the Core i5 platform, we review three LGA1156 motherboards. We put the Gigabyte P55-UD3 and UD6 through the same batch of tests as the MSI P55-GD80 and check who comes out on top. Next to that we have some surprising results for those who want to use Turbo mode and also have a look at the extreme overclocking capabilities of both high-end motherboards. Last but not least we publish our findings on the maximum voltages for the Core i5 platform."

Gigabyte P965-DS3 Motherboard Overclocking Review Posted by : Nohr on Monday, July 30, 2007 - 07:36 PM
| |
"The Gigabyte P965-DS3 is arguably the very best 965-based overclocking platform available. Today were dusting off a Rev.1 board which has been replaced by the DS3 Rev 2.0 and 3.3 models. While the board is technically obsolete she´s almost identical to her siblings and they even share many of the same BIOS versions. There are a large number of Rev 1.0 boards at the heart of many systems; this overclocking article is for them and anyone considering a Gigabyte P965-DS3."

"For a budget targeted SLI platforms, the ECS NF650SLIT-A Motherboard is a good, stable bang-for-buck option. At around $115.00 USD, it is similarly priced to other 650-SLI motherboards. Chances are if you see this board in a local store, the price will be lower than comparable boards."

Intel P965 Shoot-Out: Asus P5B-E vs. MSI P965 Platinum Posted by : Nohr on Monday, June 04, 2007 - 08:53 PM
| |
"The two boards in today's article are marketed from two different ends of the spectrum, which makes for a good comparison. The P965 Platinum is at the top of MSI's list, featuring dual-slot graphics, daughterboard connectivity for proprietary LAN/Bluetooth cards, and an eye for design. The Asus P5B-E, on the other hand, looks a bit more standard, with plain brown PCB, a single PCI-E slot, and a more conservative bundle. A closer look at each board is needed to see which board suits a buyer's needs."
